I love this article. I want to read the actual study instead of the watered down version for us lay people. Read this final quote, I find it really interesting in light of my studies in Peace & War, specifically, new understandings of International relations post-Westphalian-models of nation identity:

"Of course, humans beings are not cooperating angels; they also put their heads together to do all kinds of heinous deeds. But such deeds are not usually done to those inside “the group.” Recent evolutionary models have demonstrated what politicians have long known: the best way to get people to collaborate and to think like a group is to identify an enemy and charge that “they” threaten “us.” The remarkable human capacity for cooperation thus seems to have evolved mainly for interactions within the group. Such group-mindedness is a major cause of strife and suffering in the world today. The solution — more easily said than done — is to find new ways to define the group."

hey, just wanted to let you know, I've done an f-list clean up. Nothing personal, just trying to simplify my life (school is a little draining lately.) Take care.

1. The love between sisters:

me: my relation whom I don't speak of to strangers!

2. Fandom Neglect

I haven't watched the past three episodes of Battlestar Galactica. I could be a bad fan.

3. Stargate Atlantis. I want it back. And to be good. Or at least inspire good fanfiction.

4. Studio 60. I have become recently obsessed. I want it back from hiatus. Please don't give up on the American audience. I think, given time, it could be a real hit. Oy. I'm also catching up on 7 seasons of West Wing. The flatmate and I are on Season Two.

5. I may hate the ice storm from last weekend over the NE Coast of the U.S. And it's not because I live there. Or know anyone who lives there. My Mum had a flight to visit me for a week and it was canceled because of the weather. We suppose it was not meant to be. But we both think that sucks.

Holy crap! It's an actual thunderstorm!!! I'm suddenly so excited and now completely determined not to leave the house today.

There was lighting! And a wicked long burst of thunder. And wow, you know how you count the beats to see how far it is? It's right on top of me. And so... in the time it took me to write this, the rain went from torrential downpour to regular Scottish rain. It's still goin' hard but not sideways anymore.

Heh, if only it there were more thunderstorms in the world...

And the sideways rain is back.

I love the Scots.

It is amazing how good Mexican food can taste when you have been deprived for a month.

I'm living in Scotland this year for an exchange program. It has been interesting to say the least.

I'm still catching up on my favorite shows. I keep hearing allt he buzz, but I have been deprived of a television since I arrived here. So now I'm catching up on Stargate Atlantis and I'm hoping Battlestar Galactica will show up on iTunes or I'll find other means...
